The foundation of IREPP
is the modularized radiological training program for emergency
responders. This program, termed the Idaho
Modular Emergency Response Radiological Training Program or Idaho
MERRT was orginally developed by the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) as a nationwide modularized radiological training
course to ensure training consistency in responding to transportation
incidents involving radiological material.
This training program has
been adopted and customized by the State of Idaho to provide specific
training and guideance to emergency responders.
IMERRT
is a flexible program that offers various types and levels of
training. It exclusively covers Hazard Class 7 (radioactive material)
but builds upon the information and guidance received in other
hazardous materials courses.
IMERRT
courses range from an overview of radioactive materials to more
complex topics of radiological instrumentation and incident response
measures providing emergency responders with fundamental knowledge
and skills required to respond with confidence to incidents involving
radioactive material.
